AAGD Names Jason Simon Director of Government Affairs
The Apartment Association of Greater Dallas (AAGD) has announced Jason Simon as the Director of Government Affairs and Raphaella Silva as the Government Affairs Manager.
In this role, Simon will lead the government affairs team and the AAGD’s advocacy efforts across 11 counties in North Texas. Simon will play a critical role in defining the government affairs priorities for AAGD, and his team will work collaboratively with the Texas Apartment Association (TAA) and the National Apartment Association (NAA) to advocate for the rental housing industry at the state and national level.
“Jason brings strong government affairs experience at the local, state, and federal level to this important role at the association,” said Kin Oldham, Executive Director at AAGD. "That experience, and Jason’s ability to build relationships with elected officials, public policy makers, and key influencers makes him a real asset to the association and our members facing significant public policy issues in the greater Dallas area.”
Simon joined AAGD as Government Affairs Manager in 2015. Before that, Simon was an Account Supervisor at Hill and Knowlton Strategies. In that role, he supported the governmental affairs team and corporate communications team at Oncor Electric Delivery in Dallas. Earlier in his career, Simon served as Director of Legislative Advocacy at the Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce and as a congressional and campaign staffer for Congressman Kenny Marchant.
Simon holds a law degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law and earned a B.S. from Texas Wesleyan University.
Raphaella Silva joins AAGD as Government Affairs Manager. Most recently, Silva served as Principal at Hill and Knowlton Strategies in Dallas and held progressively senior roles with the company – specializing in corporate government affairs, strategic communications and legislative support, and management of one of the largest political action committees in North Texas.
Silva earned a B.S. with high honors from the University of Texas at Austin.
