The Independent Rental Owners programs are primarily intended for the owners (or prospective owners) of rental properties with fewer units and includes one to four units (rental houses, duplexes, condominiums or townhomes, or apartment properties having a small number of units at one location.

These owners generally require a unique property management style, as opposed to the management style used for properties of larger sizes that can afford full-time management and maintenance personnel.

Why IRO Programs?

The potential risk liability exposure of an owner/manager of single-family rental housing is the same as that of an apartment owner or manager. Both types have very similar problems that must be addressed and both generally are governed by the same laws and ordinances applying to all rental housing properties.

The purpose of the Independent Rental Owners programs is to help the independent owners better handle their management problems and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their operation by helping them to be better informed and educated about superior ways of managing rental properties..

When are the IRO Programs?

The Independent Rental Owners (IRO) Luncheon / Meetings are held every other month and are from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. followed by networking from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Apartment Association of Greater Dallas Training Center, 5728 L.B.J. Freeway, Suite #100 Dallas, Texas, located in north Dallas between Montfort and Preston Road. A lunch is served and the cost of the luncheon / meeting is $15.00.

Programs in the past have included “Learn the Law in the Classroom, Not in the Courtroom”, featuring Justices of the Peace, and industry experts on topics such as effective marketing, insurance issues, tax appraisals and property values.
