Governor Abbott issues Executive Order
On March 31, Governor Abbott issued an order allowing all businesses to continue providing essential services and all critical infrastructure to remain operational. The order also extends social distancing practices by minimizing social gatherings and in-person contact effective April 2 through April 30.
The order follows the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Guidance on the Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce, Version 2.0, which lists residential operations as an essential service, including residential leasing, property management, maintenance, and related service calls, as well as facilitate the reception of deliveries, mail, and other necessary services.
Additionally, the order supersedes any conflicting order issued by local officials in response to the COVD-19 disaster, but only to the extent, the local order restricts essential services allowed by the order.
