Governor Abbott Issues Order Requiring Face Coverings in Most Counties

Government Affairs Update, State,

On July 2, Governor Greg Abbott issued an Executive Order requiring all Texans to wear face coverings in public spaces. The face covering must cover the nose and mouth when worn in public. The order applies to all counties with 20 or more cases of COVID-19.

The Governor also issued a proclamation giving mayors and county judges the ability to impose restrictions on some outdoor gatherings of over 10 people. The proclamation also mandates that people cannot be in groups larger than ten and must maintain six feet of social distancing from others.

During these challenging times, we must do all that we can to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our communities. Please continue to follow safety practices in your communities as set forth by the CDC. Additionally, AAGD has compiled a comprehensive list of resources on best practices, safety precautions and information on local, state and federal policies related to COVID-19.
