AAGD Is Committed to Giving Back

We support helping motivated individuals overcome their circumstances as a means to support the community. As housing providers, it is imperative for our members to maintain a positive and mutually beneficial relationship with local residents.

One way our association supports this mission is by partnering with Entryway of North Texas, a nonprofit organization that offers a pathway to economic self-sufficiency by providing career training, employment, and housing in partnership with their real estate partners.

AAGD has collaborated with the organization to develop a three-day program that provides participants with foundational knowledge of the multifamily industry and hands-on maintenance training, as well as interview skills and preparation. The program concludes with a job fair where members with open positions offer on-site interviews.

How Our Members Contribute

There are several ways our members play a role in this program. For example, Sherwin-Williams provides hands-on maintenance training such as repairing drywall, painting, and power washing. Entryway participants also have the option to attain their Certified Apartment Leasing Professional (CALP) certification by completing educational courses offered by AAGD separate from the three-day program.

InterSolutions Multifamily Staffing is just one of our many staffing member companies that work with Entryway participants who have completed the job training portion of the program. Staffing company personnel offer participants resume review services, interview prep, and host job fairs in which these newly trained individuals can meet with our property member companies for the chance of securing employment.

CORT Furniture contributes to this cause by generously providing furniture for Entryway participants who have secured housing, which they can keep beyond their time with the program at no additional cost.

Beyond obtaining employment and housing, Entryway participants also receive ongoing training, mentoring, and other support services from the program to ensure not only temporary stability, but long-term success.

Why We Do It

The collaboration between Entryway and our members helps bridge the gap between those in need of housing and job opportunities and our industry partners looking for quality, skilled employees. In addition, other community residents benefit from this initiative through increased local economic activity and a reduced homelessness rate.
